Background to the alliance establishment
Message from Chairman
I am Hiromasa Yonekura, the Chairman of Japan Business Federation (Nippon Keidanren) and has succeeded the Chairman of Japanese Business Alliance for Smart Energy Worldwide (JASE-World) since May 2010.
While achieving economic growth and solving global warming issues simultaneously are the first priority issue in the world and also great challenges for industries, there might be many opportunities for innovative technology development and new business creation.
It has been two years since JASE-W started its activities. Standing firmly on the foundations which the former chairman Mr. Mitarai had laid, we will continue to promote Japanese smart energy products and technologies to the world by concentrating Japanese industrial power and enhancing public-private cooperation. Through these activities, I believe we could contribute to solve environmental and energy issues. (2010.Sept.)
Background and its objectives
Currently, the world is facing the dual issues of aggravation of global environment due to increasing energy consumption, and growing uncertainty about stable supply of natural resources. The keys to solve these issues are promotion of energy conservation and utilizing renewable energy. Japan has achieved economic growth without increasing energy consumption of industrial sector after the oil shock by using its advanced smart energy products and technologies. It is not only our responsibility but also highly expected role from the world that Japan should contribute to solve global environmental and energy issues through disseminating those products and technologies.
However, for sustainable promotion of smart energy products and technologies owned by Japanese industries, conventional business practices are not enough and some new framework is necessary. Under these circumstances, business and public sectors jointly formed the Japanese Business Alliance for Smart Energy Worldwide in October 2008 in order to advertise Japanese smart energy products and technologies and to formulate new framework for business promotion.
Currently, over 80 companies and organizations have joined JASE-World. They are participating in various activities such as discussing to overcome business obstacles, dispatching missions to explore projects and providing useful information to promote smart energy business.
